Following a Blue Ocean framework, developed and executed the launch of a commercially available cloud-based talent management software package.
The novel, full-featured, and secure, EEO-compliant job board and candidate tracking tool was designed to integrate into any website or major enterprise providers or to be used as a standalone product. It focused on capitalizing on several trends: a fast-growing social and mobile world, rapidly declining storage prices, demand by candidates for greater control and rights around content ownership due to shifting laws and regulations, and a market that wanted an easy-to-purchase, set-up, and manage solution to help find the right employees.
In addition to focusing on these high-value attributes, it uniquely provided candidates with the ability to control their information and profiles, include socially linked content from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube, and upload rich media files relevant to the openings. Through automated prompts, applicants were encouraged to upload videos, pictures, or links to demonstrate proficiency in opening-related tasks.
Results
The solution opened new markets and created new demand from non-customers while significantly increasing the retention and stickiness of existing customers.
Specifically for the company and its customers, it dramatically shortened hiring cycles, lowered turnover, and improved the quality of the hire. This was especially true for nontraditional hires, providing a better way to assess and see a candidate's skills than a traditional application or resume.
